Sarah's story

Running in honour of an NHS legacy

Sarah is taking on the Great North Run this September to support NHS Charities Together in memory of her beloved Grandma.

Inspired by her Grandma’s lifelong dedication to the NHS, Sarah is running to honour her legacy, give back to a cause that meant so much to her and celebrate the compassion and commitment that has also inspired Sarah to pursue a career in the NHS herself.

Sarah's story

“This year, I’ll be taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for NHS Charities Together in memory of my wonderful Grandma, who sadly passed away in 2024.

My Grandma dedicated her entire career to the NHS. Her compassion, strength and unwavering commitment to caring for others inspired me every single day. Because of her, I am now pursuing a career in the NHS myself, something I know would have made her incredibly proud.

I feel so grateful to have had her in my life, and this run is my way of honouring her legacy and everything she stood for."
"NHS Charities Together supports both staff and patients across the UK, funding vital projects that help provide the best possible care. This cause meant so much to my Grandma, which is why it means so much to me.”
