Brighter Days Are Coming.

Yasmin's story

Running in recognition of the people behind NHS care

Yasmin is taking on the Great North Run this September to support NHS Charities Together.

With a deeply personal connection to the NHS through the care her family has received and her own career and nurse training, Yasmin is fundraising in recognition of the NHS staff whose compassion, expertise and dedication have meant so much to her and her family.

Yasmin's story

“The NHS is an amazing service which we are so fortunate in the UK to be able to access. My mum, who I miss every day, was cared for during her last days by NHS ICU nurses and the donor team. They ensured we had memorabilia of Mum and gave us updates during her last days and about where her organs went.

In addition to this, the NHS supported my sister in bringing my lovely nephew into the world, with help from midwives and specialist diabetes nurses during a pregnancy which could have been incredibly risky.

I’ve worked within the NHS for over five years and have been supported through my Registered Adult Nurse training. Through work and placements, I’ve been able to see the passion, kindness and knowledge of phenomenal healthcare professionals. I’m regularly astonished by the care we can offer and the incredible medical advances.”
