Brighter Days Are Coming.

Kate's story

Running to say thank you to the NHS

After 20 years working within the NHS, Kate has seen first-hand the compassion and dedication that define the health service. Now, she’s taking on the Paris Marathon to give back to the NHS after both a career spent supporting others and a recent personal experience of care within her own family.

Kate's story

“After 20 years working as a midwife in the NHS, I have seen the dedication, resilience and compassion that underpin our health service every single day.

Running the Paris Marathon for the NHS is my way of giving something back to a system that has shaped my career and allowed me to support thousands of women and families at some of the most important moments of their lives.

Last year, my husband was diagnosed with myeloma, and we needed the NHS more than ever. The care and compassion he received made a difficult time more bearable, and I will always be grateful to the team that looked after him so well.

We will continue to rely on the NHS in the years ahead. I want to give something back and say thank you on my husband’s behalf.”
