COVID APPEAL PROGRESS REPORT

COVID APPEAL PROGRESS REPORT

As the umbrella organisation representing all NHS charities across the UK when the pandemic hit, we became the focal point for the public’s outpouring of support for our NHS, and in 2020 we launched our Urgent Covid-19 Appeal, raising over £15million in the first five days. The appeal went on to raise £160 million to support staff, patients, and communities.

We mobilised quickly to allocate funds to reach every part of the UK and our grants were issued in three phases to support urgent needs, community partnerships and NHS recovery.

A review of the first phase of funding – totalling £42 million – highlights the impact of the public’s record-breaking fundraising.

2022 ANNUAL REPORT

We’re delighted to share our annual report for 2022 and update you on our ongoing work to help the NHS go further for staff, patients and communities around the UK.

Whilst the nation is slowly moving on from the pandemic, the NHS continues to feel it’s devastating impact and NHS charities are there to provide the vital support needed to help it recover. As well as our wider initiatives supporting the NHS charity sector, in 2022 we distributed a further £18 million in funding from our COVID-19 Urgent Appeal and the Volunteering Futures Fund – working with our network of over 230 NHS charities to fund hundreds of projects across the UK and to ensure that money goes where it is needed most.

This funding has allowed us to continue our work to support NHS staff, providing much needed mental health and wellbeing support, and to the best it can be – and in 2022 our grants programme also focused on long-term recovery and supporting communities to live well – taking the pressure off our over-stretched health services.

In 2022 we also held our inaugural National Member Conference, bringing together delegates from our vast membership for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, to celebrate our remarkable achievements as a sector and to identify how we can grow and learn together.

Whilst we’re proud of everything we achieved in 2022, we know there is so much more that can be done to ensure the NHS is able to thrive in an ever-changing world.  With staff trauma, a huge patient backlog and increasing public health demands, the extra support provided by NHS charities is more important than ever, and so is your continued support.

We hope you enjoy reading our annual report, and invite you to read more about the grants we fund below. Click here to find out how you can support our work, and help achieve better healthcare for us all.
