David's story

Growing Plants for the NHS

David worked for the NHS for more than 20 years before his MS diagnosis forced him to retire in 2011 aged just 54.

However, he didn’t let that stop him from wanting to help people, and he set up ‘David’s Growing Plants for the NHS’ in April 2020.

David grows all sorts of plants – from bedding flowers to vegetables – which he then sells from a stall on his drive.

Not only do David’s green fingers help him to manage his MS symptoms, but by selling the plants to his neighbours, he’s also raising funds that help us with our mission to make healthcare better for everybody.

Why David chose to support us

“I am getting the best of both worlds; doing what I love doing, gardening, which keeps me active and helps with my own health, knowing at the same time I am helping the community and improving the health of many others, by helping the NHS.”
