Peter is an experienced CEO and Chair with a wealth of experience across the private, commercial, charity and government sectors. Peter spent a significant part of his career with the BBC, ultimately becoming Managing Director of all the BBC’s commercial activities in the UK and then CEO of all the BBC’s activities in North and South America.

For the past 12 years he has bridged the commercial media, education, public and charity sectors, with key appointments including being Deputy Chairman of ‘Immediate Media Co.’ Chair for Texere Ltd, and Chair for one of the largest privately owned English language businesses, Bell, based in Cambridge.

In the charity and public sector, Peter has been a Trustee of The British Heart Foundation, a Board Member at The National Archives and an Independent Board Advisor on the commercial board of the British Council.

Awyr Las Blue Sky

Kirsty oversees the North Wales NHS Charity, Awyr Las Blue Sky and charitable partnerships for the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Kirsty taught English in Taiwan, Colombia and Spain and held a voluntary position with a charity supporting street children in Colombia before returning to the UK to take on an internship and then a permanent role with the Charities Advisory Trust. Kirsty went on to become the Fundraiser for Wales for the Alzheimers Society and then the Major Gifts Manager for Bangor University before joining the Health Board in North Wales as the Head of Fundraising for the North Wales NHS Charity, Awyr Las.

A former trustee of Students Supporting Street Kids, Kirsty is also a Director of Macsen and Partners Ltd, which provides consultancy services for voluntary sector organisations.

Kirsty is a mother of three and enjoys walking in Snowdonia with her family in her spare time.

Tim is currently Charities and Partnerships Manager for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He has worked in the voluntary sector for over 30 years for organisations involved in young people, the arts, social inclusion, health, and medicine. At YHA he was instrumental in securing £17 million in funding to develop Do it 4 Real summer camps for 10-16 year olds, which had a real impact on the thousands of young people who took part. Tim became involved in NHS charities in 2009 and has worked for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity, leading it through the pandemic and Leicester Hospitals Charity, where he established a strong track record of successful appeals for all areas of the hospital’s work.

Tim had an earlier career in television, media and theatre as an actor, writer and theatre producer, working with actors such as Sylvester McCoy, Barbara Windsor and Ian Lavender. Having left the theatre he realised the theatre never quite left him, so in his spare time he writes and directs pantomimes for the South Darley Players, and occasionally directs other amateur theatre groups. He plays guitar and writes music and likes to go fell-walking or cycling in the Peak District whenever he can.

He is a Member of the Institute of Fundraising, and was Chair of the Association of NHS Charities Fundraising Mutual Interest Group for five years.

Jayne has spent the last few years as a Chair and Non-Executive Director. Her most recent position until the end of her term was as Chair of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Prior to this she was a non-executive director at UHBW, at the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and a trustee at St John Ambulance where she was recognised for her contribution to healthcare and became a member of the Order of St John (MStJ). She joined NHS Charities Together as a Trustee in September 2021.

Jayne spent more than 30 years in human resources and organisational development, working in executive director roles with the Boots Company, Whitbread, Royal Mail, Punch Taverns, Barratt Developments and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

In addition to her Chair and Non-Executive Director work Jayne is an executive coach where she supports executives and organisations in culture change, engagement and transformation in a wide variety of private and public sector businesses.

Jayne holds an MSc in human resource development from Nottingham Trent University, a certificate in coaching from Henley Management College and is a Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development.

Jayne loves to travel and enjoys cricket, Nordic walking, swimming and yoga.

Chris is the CEO of the national animal charity Blue Cross Charity. Prior to this Chris joined the Royal Free Charity in 2010 as its first Chief Executive where he oversaw the strategic change of the organisation from a grant making body to direct service provider, merging other organisations into the Charity and growing the income by 300% to over £40m. Together they were the primary reasons why he was identified as one of the five rising stars of the third sector by Charity Times in 2014.

Previously he was the Director of Business Development at the Fire Fighters Charity where he grew the charity from £3m turnover to over £9m. He was also responsible for the rebranding of the organisation, the restructuring of its 2000 strong volunteer network and a major expansion of its beneficiary base. The work he and his team undertook resulted in them being voted the “UK’s Fundraising Team of the Year” in 2008/09 by the Third Sector, as well as being nominated as the best charity brand development. Chris was also voted one of the top two fundraisers in the UK in 2005/06 by the Charity Times magazine.

Chris has also worked for the National Farmers’ Union as both their Marketing Manager and Business Development Manager. He was educated in both the UK and the USA and completed his MBA in 2001. Chris was awarded an MBE in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours list for services to the NHS.

NHS Blood & Transplant Trust Fund

Antony is Director of Communications and Engagement at NHS Blood and Transplant and has served over 20 years in the NHS, including at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and London Ambulance Service.

Antony also served as a Director of Communications at NHS England, leading on a range of major initiatives, including the NHS’s 70th and 75th anniversaries in 2018 and 2023 respectively.

Antony has worked in a number of national charities including Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In 2018, he was named by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations as one of the UK’s top 70 PR people and is included in PR Week’s annual ‘Power List’.

He is a keen runner, loves to travel and enjoys reading.

NHS Lothian Charity

Jane has been Director of NHS Lothian Charity since 2011, having previously served as the Director of Fundraising at King’s College Hospital. Following a BA in Music at the University of York and a postgrad at the Royal College of Music, she followed a career combining teaching music, playing the French horn semi-professionally and arts management, before joining the charity sector as a Concerts Manager at Sargent Cancer Care for Children. Jane took on the role of Director of Fundraising for King’s in 2004, after experiencing life-saving care at that very same hospital for her daughter.

Jane provides vision and leadership to NHS Lothian Charity, and is responsible for setting strategic direction and leading cross-functional teams to deliver the Charity’s long-term strategy and operational plans. The charity is considered best in class in Scotland, and leads the way nationally on the delivery of both arts in health and greenspace programmes, volunteering and staff wellbeing. In 2018 Jane’s experience of leading a large endowment led to her involvement in OSCR’s published guidance on trustee investment, and she was part of the Scottish Government review of NHS Charity governance.

At NHS Lothian Charity she set down the foundation blocks for the award-winning fundraising team, and whilst at King’s College Hospital Charity, she led several large capital fundraising appeals, and through early involvement in the Association of NHS Charities from the mid-2000s supported the first round of membership development and growth, including establishing the Fundraising Mutual Interest Group.

Aside from work, Jane has two teenage children, a musician husband and a Labrador; she enjoys cooking, weight lifting and hill-walking.

Amarjit (Jeet) is a partner in the Financial Services Practice at EY leading its Extended Assurance offerings to firms in the UK and across the globe. In addition, Jeet is the Digital Assets Blockchain Assurance Leader for EMEIA. In the past Jeet has held governance roles in EY as Chair of the EMEIA Partner [Governance] Forum as well as sitting on the Global Governance Council of EY.  He is an active member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

Jeet is a passionate supporter of Diversity and Inclusion, having been named one of the top 100 BAME Leaders in business in 2018. He continues to sit on the various D&I committees at EY whilst supporting D&I efforts across the City of London. Previously Jeet was a trustee of the Winnicott Foundation, a charity supporting the neonatal units at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a cause close to his heart with his daughter being a premmie on the unit where he saw first hand the dedication and service that NHS Staff give every day for us all.

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund

Sarah is Chief Executive of a group of national charities promoting inclusion and achievement for deaf children. An experienced leader in the charity sector, Sarah has also been a senior manager for a national charity leading in volunteering policy and practice as well as being a regional lead for raising aspirations for young people with disabilities. In another previous role, she was Chief Executive of York CVS, an ambitious social action organisation.

In addition, Sarah is also Chair at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. She was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in 2018 and became Chair in 2022. Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust cares for the population in Harrogate and the local area as well as across North Yorkshire. It also provides children’s services across large parts of the North East and Yorkshire. 

Sarah blends both roles, giving her a unique perspective on the charity sector and the NHS. She is particularly passionate about the value of volunteering and the unique contribution volunteers can make, especially within a healthcare setting.

Plymouth Hospitals General Charity

Sarah is the Deputy Chief Executive and CFO at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.  She has over 28 years’ experience in NHS finance and has worked in acute hospitals, Mental Health Trusts and the commissioning sector.  Her passion is staff development and ensuring that all staff have equal opportunities to realise their potential in all aspects of their careers.

Sarah graduated in Law and worked in the legal profession before joining the NHS through the graduate management training scheme and qualifying as an accountant.  She has 2 children and loves running and cycling on Dartmoor where she lives.

Frimley Health Charity

James is the Chief Strategy Officer for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. He has board responsibilities alongside his Executive Portfolio which covers Strategy, Partnerships, Estates and Facilities. 

He is an experienced board member with strengths in leadership in strategy, professionally qualified as a Chartered Fellow from both the Chartered Institute of Management and Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.

James has extensive experience in the private, public, and voluntary sectors where he has led transformation initiatives that enhance the customer and patient experiences whilst improving productivity. He joined the NHS in 2024 from the Home Office where he was the Director of Business and People Planning for UK Border Force, responsible for leading the corporate support teams to enable frontline success.

Prior to joining the public sector in 2021, James spent over a decade in senior roles in the John Lewis Partnership. He has also held a non-executive role with Benenden Health, a not-for-profit healthcare organisation.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund

Nicola, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, had a rewarding first career as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen, where she oversaw consulting projects both domestically and abroad. She moved into the recruitment industry while living in Australia and worked in that sector for more than twenty years.

Nicola now pursues a portfolio non-executive career working for businesses across health and social care. She also has a long-standing interest in her local community and the voluntary sector. Currently, Nicola is NED for the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (and chairs their Charitable Fund), Brighter Futures for Children in Reading which runs Children’s Services for the Borough and Turning Point which delivers mental health, learning disability and substance use interventions across England.  She is also Vice Chair of Child Bereavement UK.

Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity

Chris has worked in the NHS for over 45 years.  He qualified in Medicine from Manchester and subsequently trained in primary care and public health before holding a range of senior public health director posts in Lancashire and Greater Manchester.  He has had a varied executive career working to address health inequalities in some of England’s most complex and challenging healthcare systems.  This includes being Executive Medical Director at The Christie NHSFT from 2005 until 2013 and Executive Medical Director at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust from 2013 until 2016, during which time he was also the vice chair of the London Clinical Senate.  He was National Clinical Director for Cancer from 2016 until 2019.

In recent years, Chris has focused on supporting good organisational governance and holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance and a Certificate in Health Service Governance. Chris is also a trustee and honorary secretary of The Orwell Society, a non-executive director at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHSFT, a non-executive director at The Northern Care Alliance NHSFT and a part-time executive director at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, advising on strategy and governance.  He is an honorary clinical professor at the Manchester Academic Health Sciences Centre. He has been involved in charity work at The Christie, Imperial College Healthcare, and most recently at Derby and Burton. 

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust Charitable Fund and Leeds Community Healthcare Charitable Trust

Khalil has a passion for improving the well-being of others and tackling inequalities. He has spent his career at the intersections of finance, social impact and innovation across the private, public and voluntary sectors and brings significant board and corporate governance experience alongside a sense of curiosity, inclusivity and compassion. 

Khalil was recently Interim Director of Finance & Digital at an award winning regional mental health services charity and before this as a Chief Executive of an international healthcare NGO, delivering public health and global healthcare services across Africa and South Asia and other developing countries. He has been a Director of Finance & IT of a leading North West based social care charity. Prior to this, he spent 10 years in investment banking in Mergers & Acquisitions and corporate finance advisory roles, followed by a stint in academia at one of the world’s top universities as a Research Fellow in social care and disabilities and Lecturer in urban regeneration.

Khalil is currently a Non-Executive director at Salix Homes based in Salford, Chair of Audit at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Chair of Audit at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Board Member at University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and Vice Chair of the Seacole Group.

Jo is an experienced communications professional and charity CEO, and serves as a non-executive director of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.   She began her career as a health correspondent in national newspapers, moved into government as a Special Advisor to Alan Johnson when he was health secretary before going into senior management of membership bodies.

Until 2022, Jo held the position of chief executive officer at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the body responsible for paediatric training and standards. Jo now runs the charity Mosaic – Supporting Bereaved Children, which helps more than 400 young people and their families in Dorset each year following the death of someone important to them.
