Our Membership Offer

Small Rainbow in Red

NHS Charities Together is a membership organisation that supports NHS charities to reach their individual goals, to grow and learn together and deliver benefits for patients, communities, and workforce.

We represent all 235 NHS charities based with every Trust and Health Board across the UK. This includes charities based in hospitals, mental health, community and ambulance services.

Together, we give over £1 million a day to the NHS, helping the NHS to go further by providing extra support for NHS staff, patients, volunteers and communities.

At National Conference in May, we launched our refreshed strategy, Achieving Our Potential Together. Critical to our strategy is our role as a valued membership organisation – it is the key to our uniqueness, our credibility, and our impact.

We have since reviewed and refreshed our member offer with members. The offer is a high-quality and member-led package of benefits, with a menu of options and components tailored to different cohorts, that will continually evolve based on member feedback.

The Membership Offer

…focuses on three key deliverables:

1

Harnessing the power of the collective

2

Building collective capacity and capability

3

Amplifying and celebrating the sector

A wide range of support is available to NHS Charities who pay an annual membership, with many benefits for their employees.

The member offer is delivered through different channels of support, events, resources and grant opportunities, all around five priority areas:

Network: Tailored connections, peer support, and a vibrant members forum

Academy: Targeted learning, bespoke resources, and insightful webinars

Events: Workshops, conferences, peer support, and coproduction possibilities

Strategic Partnerships: Influence, fundraising, and corporate collaboration

Movement: Join a social movement, shared action, and the NHS charities collective

2024 Member Offer Plan

Membership Fees for 2024

Responding to member requests, we will be shifting the membership year from January to December to April to March.

To support this, we will be asking members to confirm they intend to remain members in 2024 by 30th November 2023 in a survey.

We propose we issue invoices on 1st April 2024, with a due date of 30th April, for a membership year of 12 months (1st April 2024 – 31st March 2025).

This shift means that members will get three months of membership for free during 2024 (1 January to 31 March).

Members who confirm they intend to leave the membership, or do not respond, will not have access to full member offer in 2024.

If you have any questions or further suggestions for the member offer, please contact the membership team on events@anshc.org.uk.

More information

We are the national charity caring for the NHS.

OUR VISION:

A future with a thriving NHS and the best possible healthcare for everyone.

OUR MISSION:

We mobilise the collective power of NHS charities and the nation to help the NHS go further for patients, staff and communities – ensuring extra support goes where it’s most needed and enabling the NHS to advance in a rapidly changing world.

WE WILL ACHIEVE THESE BY:

  1. Transforming patient experience and outcomes
  2. Supporting workforce wellbeing
  3. Supporting people and communities to live well

Founded in 2000, the Association started as an informal group of the largest NHS charities which came together to provide mutual support and a forum for discussion.

The Association has grown steadily and currently represents 235 charities, 100% of the sector from across the UK.

The Association was formally constituted in 2008 and successfully applied to the Charity Commission to become a registered charity.

The Association rebranded in 2019 under the name NHS Charities Together.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020, the public wanted to do their bit to help the NHS. As the umbrella organisation representing all NHS charities across the UK, we became the focal point for this outpouring of support for the NHS and launched our Urgent Covid-19 Appeal.

The grants were issued to members in three phases: stage 1, emergency response, stage 2, community partnerships and stage 3, Covid recovery. The impact of the emergency response funds are summarised in our Progress Report.

Since 2020, the products, services and support available to members have increased significantly and now support members across a range of areas, from governance and financial management, to fundraising, reporting, and charity best practice. We also help raise awareness of the issues affecting the sector.

The member offer and fees for 2024 have been guided by member input – we have reviewed feedback from engagement with members to date, set up a coproduction group, and held a virtual meeting and poll with the wider membership. We have also analysed data about our member offer and fees, bench-marked against similar schemes, and considered the viability of fee structures.
