Set up with an initial target to generate £5,000, more than £4million has already been raised by Run for Heroes.
Run For Heroes encourages people to put their daily exercise to a good cause. It asks people to run, walk or cycle 5km, donate £5 to NHS Charities Together via the Run For Heroes giving page and then spread the message even further by sharing a picture of themselves exercising on social media, tagging Run For Heroes and nominating five of their friends to also take part and donate.
For those who want to stay indoors, no problem. There is a home 5×5 HIIT workout and a yoga routine on our social media, so you can work up a sweat at home.
Olivia Strong, of Run for Heroes, said: “Over 900,000 people have shown their support so far, which is beyond our wildest dreams and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us. It proves how even though we’re all apart, we can still work together for a common cause – to help our NHS workers in their fight to protect us.
“When we first launched the campaign, our initial target was £5k – which we hit in just four days – so we kept upping the target as donations streamed in. Our dream would be to hit £5 million. To go from £5k to £5million would just be incredible and could hopefully make a real impact to our NHS workers who need our support.”
If you would like to take part, don’t wait to be nominated! Just get your trainers on and get out there. You can run, walk, cycle or do whatever works for you – just make sure you adhere to the government guidelines and maintain social distancing when outside.
