Psychological support for healthcare staff

When hospitals were first hit by the impact of Covid, staff worked round the clock to care for patients and were stretched to the limit physical and emotionally. The team at this NHS charity recognised that early on and used the funding they received from the appeal to increase the dedicated psychological support in place to help healthcare staff. That helped build their ability to cope with the high numbers of Covid-19 patients, patient deaths and constant threat of infection and ill-health while minimising the impact on their own health and wellbeing. “It was really good to know that someone cared about us, and they really cared. You could see that straight away and the fact that they were there from the start made a difference. They came to us; we didn’t have to look for them. They were always there.”  Nurse – Craigavon Area Hospital
