2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife – the most respected and trusted professionals in the country.
NHS Charities appreciate, value and invest in nursing and midwifery so next year we are planning our best nationwide fundraising campaign yet in aid of NHS nurses and midwives.
The NHS Big Tea: raising a cuppa to nurses and midwives!
NHS Charities Together is an official charity partner of NHS England’s celebratory campaign.
All NHS Charities Together members can participate in the NHS Big Tea (however the campaign is not open to benefit non members).
Individual member’s 2020 Big Tea campaigns can be for nursing and midwifery projects/grants or choose to ‘raise a cuppa’ for a different Trust/Hospital priority.
With support for nurses and midwives being so high in the country, mirrored by the reaction on social media to the new NHS advert for nursing careers #wearethenhs; this is a huge opportunity for NHS Charities to help the Nation celebrate, say thank you and give back to support nurses and midwives through the NHS Big Tea.

How will the NHS Big Tea 2020 work?
Inviting the Nation to organise their own NHS Big Tea parties on and around the birthday of the NHS – 5th July – Raising a cuppa to Nurses and Midwives
We will have a high profile national media launch on Florence Nightingale’s 200th Birthday – 12th May – International Nurses Day.
NHS Big Tea is supported by NHS England and celebrities backing International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
Our NHS Big Tea website will be updated with key messages for 2020 and direct links to campaign and fundraising pages of member charities of NHS Charities Together.
The nation can then choose to celebrate, say thanks and give back to the nurses and midwives who mean the most to them through their NHS charities. That could be a community nurse or midwife, mental health nurse, specialist or acute hospital nurse…
NHS Big Tea campaign collateral is available on line for the public and through our membership pages on our website for charity members.
NHS Charities Together Fundraising MIG Conference on 11th March 2020 on ‘NHSCT Nationwide Campaigns – making the most of International Year of the Nurse’ – talking Big Tea, talking fundraising, talking high profile, talking key messages, talking making a difference, talking strategy to NHS75 and NHS Day… all members welcome to shape, share and strengthen our collective presence and voice – booking not open now, more info on our events page.
More news to come about NHS Charities and International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
We will keep you posted about what you need to do next.
